![]() Where her contemporaries have often chosen to play it safe (Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow) rather than tip the applecart, Cole has proven herself a true successor to the likes of Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon, and Kate Bush in her willingness to eschew convention for creative growth. Over the course of her 20 years in the music industry Cole has followed her muse before all else. ![]() While her ambitious creativity was rarely met with commercial success ( Where Have All the Cowboys Gone and I Don’t Want to Wait remain her sole Top 10 singles in the States), Cole is an artist in the truest sense. And of course, we can’t forget that this is the woman whose voice opened up every episode of the 90s cultural phenomenon (might be a bit strong a word, but it was certainly popular) that was Dawson’s Creek. ![]() Every biography mentions her association with the Lilith Fair festivals, that zeitgeist of 90s new wave feminism that faded as quickly as it came (attempts to re-create the Lilith Fair hype only a few years ago fell embarrassingly limp). ![]() She continues to write, produce, record and perform heartfelt, meaningful, lasting music that defies categorization. It would be easy to describe Paula Cole as ‘just another 90s singer-songwriter’. With a loyal fan base who appreciate the depth of her catalog, the loving artist-fan relationship, and the wisdom earned through pain, tears and joy, Cole is proud to go independently on her own label, 675 Records.Ĭole is now Professor at her alma mater Berklee College of Music, between tours and albums. Cole’s compositions have been covered by a diverse range of artists (jazz legend Herbie Hancock, Annie Lennox, Katherine McPhee, JoJo, hip-hop duo THEY), she has sold approximately three million albums, performed with icons such as Peter Gabriel, Dolly Parton, Herbie Hancock, Emmylou Harris Amy Lee of Evanescence, Burt Bacharach, Counting Crows, Matchbox 20, and currently has over four hundred thousand monthly listeners on Spotify. Cole led the pack at Lilith Fair’s opening years, and in 1999, followed her muse to release “Amen”, a genre-crossing, social-spiritual album to diverse audiences.Īfter a seven-year hiatus to raise her daughter Sky, who battled childhood asthma, Cole returned to her “second, more authentic career” releasing five more albums, “Courage” (2007), “Ithaca” (2010), “Raven” (2013), “7” (2015), and “This Bright Red Feeling” (2016), touring consistently over the last decade.Ĭole walks her path with her fans, writing out her life, sharing her connection at concerts and over social media. She toured non-stop and released her second album, 1997’s “This Fire” for which she won the Grammy for Best New Artist along with seven nominations. While touring internationally with Gabriel, Cole’s “Harbinger” debuted in 1994 to critical acclaim. In 1993, Peter Gabriel heard Paula’s then-unreleased debut album “Harbinger” and invited Cole to join his “Secret World Live” tour. She has released a new video of “Where Have All The Cowboys Gone?”, and a 20th anniversary-memento-live album entitled, “This Bright Red Feeling”. Recently Paula is celebrating the 20th anniversary of “This Fire”, and will be performing “This Fire” in its entirety at select concerts. Paula Cole is the voice behind Peter Gabriel’s “Secret World Live”, hits “Where Have All The Cowboys Gone?”, “I Don’t Want To Wait”, and the brave, brazen double platinum album, “This Fire”.Īs the first woman in history to solely produce and receive the Best Producer Grammy nomination for her work, “This Fire”, Cole broke boundaries with a searcher’s spirit. A self-described “mother and human being first” Cole is a timeless voice not only in song, but for those who have felt pain, and who still stand shining light, against all odds. It is dedicated to her father, Jim Cole.Ĭole started as a jazz singer and now returns, at nearly 50 years of age, to pay homage to her first love of jazz and folk. ![]() More beautiful than ever, in a twenty-plus-year-career, Paula Cole releases “Ballads”, a twenty-song collection of American jazz and folk classics from the 1930’s to the 1960’s. ![]() Im no code / computer genius, my method wont work for everything, but im happy it works for this little gem. I also tried to search my HD for files created during the day and hours of installation, nothing found, only that registry. ![]() I like this little drum vst and was also worried about it suddenly not working, so i used RegShot before and after registering to compare, and find where this info was stored in the registry. It might be a new random file created in the applications folder, maybe inside My Documents, App Data, etc, or stored in the registry. You will have to do a little detective work to figure out where and how your registration information is stored. This will only work for things that happen to only write to the registry. So, this prompted me to reinstall DrumCore and Drummix as well, and I can honestly see these ones getting some use here, too.Īnyway, no real strong points to make, just wanted to express my gratitude for an excellent free drum VSTi, and I learned about its existence here in this forum. I'm sure most of us would love to find one single drum program to handle everything we throw at it, but I think the reality is that some apps are better suited for a particular style and sound or two, and it's always a good idea to have more than one on hand. I almost never completely get rid of something I download, and I'm glad I hung on to this one. I still think the toms leave just a little to be desired, but I was able to get them sounding better with EQ. I was demo-ing it before by itself, but in a mix, the kick and snare sound awesome. I installed MT Power DrumKit again, and I gotta say, for a free drum program, this is really good! I stuck it in a few projects and the kick no longer sounds nasally to me. But from time to time, I get a bit bored, and in the mood for something different. ![]() Since then I've purchased MDrummer, and it's become my go-to drum program. ![]() ![]() It is no surprise that the director directly states that it is the censorship and blurring of portions of the film that makes it pornography – I would agree. This piece is a subtle work of art whose main subject matter is sex, and therefore is narrative examination of the intimacy of intimacy. In many ways, this film lacks much of the hallmark of what makes pornography pornography – that is, the illicit examination of the sex act itself on the level with the performers and focusing mainly on the penetrative and stimulating act – which is often for the audience to objectify and therefore ignore the performers. The buildup seems relatively tame for today’s cinematic experience, and what once might have seemed to be shocking content is truly disarmed by the cinematography of Hideo Ito and the breathtaking, intimate performances of Eiko Matsuda and Tatsuya Fuji. ![]() The ending of the film is shocking, completely unexpectedly mirroring an imaginary moment of gore early in the film, but one that Japanese audiences are already familiar with because of the legendary story it is based on. The skies are painted in dreamlike sunset hues while the worn doorframes and spotless tatami mats provide the perfect nesting ground for our two protagonists. The script is lyrical and poetic, and the sets of this entirely studio-filmed world magically transport us to the very realm of senses that the two main characters explore together. He leaves his wife for maid, and the two spend the film experimenting and exploring the sensory indulgences of their sexual lives. It tells the story of a sordid relationship between an ex-prostitute who just began work as a maid in a hotel, and her married boss, the hotel owner. But the story it tells is of a passionate and encompassing love affair that ends in the ultimate tragic sacrificial mutilation – based on an early twentieth century true story that is well known in Japanese culture, many see this story as a tongue in cheek tribute to the power of love as much as a warning of the dangers of the obsessions of lust and possession. This film remains a contentious censored piece in Japan where it was filmed, and had to be exported to Paris to be cut and edited and released in the version that we are receiving today in the Criterion Collection. In The Realm of the Senses is one of those early films where the genre of pornography was still in its global infancy and certainly incredibly different than what we describe it as in the 21 st century. ![]() ![]() ![]() andrew P.S: if ur voting for this right now.i dont care if u hate 3 days grace, its still a good tab so suk it and vote yes. The adventure begins with Alma arriving at a building and being introduced to the Noisy Fairy division. This isn’t a great look after the first five episodes of a 15 episode series, but there are distinct reasons for this. 1, there is a strong focus on introductions, set up and it honestly fails to really establish what it wants to accomplish. In the case of Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation Code Fairy Vol. 1 draw fans in, or does it fall short?Įpisodic games are always hard to review because it’s impossible to gauge how the story will progress and certain chapters will simply score lower. Gundam did a good job of giving both sides characters to fight for and reasons to view one or the other as either good or bad. There is the Earth Federation, who we follow in the original and many versions, with the oppressed and sympathetic Zeon. While it wasn’t the first series to involve robots fighting, it found a lot of success by tying those elements to a war between two factions.
